Š K O D A 1 3 0 L R , The Skoda 130LR is fitted with an all aluminium, four cylinder, in line, water cooled engine mounted behind the rear axle and tilted over 30 degrees to the right. The engine have a bore of 78mm and a stroke of 78mm giving a Within the Group H motorsport a capacity of 1500cc - right on the class limit. The compression ratio is also raised to either 12:1. Overall the engine produces around 140BHP engine revolutions 8000 per minute. To achieve this sort of power but retain reliability, a number of important modifications are made to the engines: Enlarged oilways in the block and at the crank main bearings, for both improved lubrication and also better heat extraction, The main bearing caps are of a higher grade steel with an increase in the tightening torque for their bolts, The light crank 78mm stroke is modified and made of a much higher grade steel, The con-rods are forged of a high grade steel, or titanium and precision balanced, Special lightweight pistons of 78mm diameter are used with 3 chromium pistons rings for racing, Re-inforced camshafts are used with different timing for increased power and torque - the options are 280/280 or 320/300 degrees, The timing chain cover carries a Bosch distributor and is completely re-designed with a booster pump and strainer for the dry sump, The waterpump is re-designed with a stronger impeller for increased flow and better cooling, The cylinder head is of a new 8 big port all alloy design with 37mm inlet and 31mm exhaust valves made of a top higher grade steel shanks are 7mm, Lightweight timing gear with carbonitrided tappets and rockers, and an increase from 9.7 to 10.4mm valve stroke with uprated valve springs made for BMW M3, New design of long induction manifold made in 3 sections for tuning, sweeping up in an arch over the head to two Weber 40 DCOE carbs, Tubular exhaust carefully tuned in length with a specially designed silencer, Bosch alternator 14V-55Ah with increased power output for additional equipment such as spotlamps. The transmission uses a single dry spring plate clutch of 200mm diameter, operated hydraulically. This drives a 5 speed gearbox with ratios of 3.083:1, 2.125:1, 1.571:1, 1.260:1 and 1.080:1 - reverse being 3.273:1. The standard competition ratio for the differential is 4.5:1, but can be changed to 3.9:1. Self-locking differentials and heavy duty driveshafts can also be fitted if needed. Pectineal drive 2,8 speed with joint shaft steering wheel. Brake liquid with dual-circuit brake disk on all wheels, fore with steel centre with inner cooling average 248 mm, rear with full disk 252mm four-plungers light alloy calipers. Heavy ragulable shock absorbers Sachs and Spax Safety fuel tank is removed to the front. Are used 3 parts fitted wheel ARC with tyres 205/50/15 on the rear and 185/60/13 on the front. Seats and safety belts are made by Sparco.
